This is our 4th year of running the 5-man relay with a family team we called the Zwede’s – a combination of Ede and Zwisler family members. This year we have added a 2nd family team and called it the Ede’z. We’ve had such a great time we wanted to open up the field to more family members and a couple close friends. Our age group goes from 15 to 60, and this year 3 of us are taking on different legs and distances. We have a real combination of relationships, One Mother-Daughter, one Father-Daughter, One Father-Son & Daughter, One sister-in-law and 2 close friends. One of my brothers, Ted Ede, got this all going to begin with, he is on the DL this year, but his wife Rosemary is running again and is also from the original team. It’s a blast to see all the people along the course cheering for the runners and every year we saw more people we knew that were running and watching. It’s a really great event for Akron and for us a really unique way to spend some time with family & friends. Later in the day we get together for a cookout to top off the festivities.
