My husband and I attended the 2008 Akron Marathon to watch our son. I had never been to a marathon event before and as I was seeing people crossing that finish line I was swept up in the excitement of the day. I had just turned 50 and had never been a runner but I decided that this was something I just had to do. I found a schedule and trained for 5ks and then eventually 10ks and ran the 2009 Akron Half Marathon. I can’t explain the feeling when I shook the race director’s hand and knew that I really did it. The event is so runner-friendly (the blue line is genius) and they make you feel so special no matter what your skill level is. I ran it again in 2010 and then did some other half marathons and finally in 2011 I ran a full marathon. The running seed was planted in me from Akron and I’m looking forward to running it again in 2012.
Never Say Never
