I began a weight loss journey at the end of September 2010. As I lost weight I began to incorporate exercise into my daily routine. In May, my youngest son wanted to run a 5k so I signed up with him. I could not believe the feeling I had when I crossed the finish line! It was great!! I was on such a high that I came up with the crazy idea of putting a relay team together for the Akron Marathon. The Akron Marathon is such a big deal that it was never an event I thought I would be a part of. Our team is using this relay to motivate us to push ourselves to do more than we ever thought we could. To me, the 2011 Akron Marathon symbolizes the 1 year mark of my weight loss journey. I have lost 76 pounds and running has become a big part of my journey. I guarantee I will be running the half marathon in 2012!
