We will be introducing some exciting training options for our event in 2012. Training for Akron will include an expanded Marathon 101 program, a renewed relationship with Team in Training, as well as a great partnership with an online training company. In addition, we will be hosting several “Blue Line” course preview runs beginning on Sunday May 13th and continuing each month until race day. Check back early in 2012 for more details!

 

We will be developing a variety of marathon training plans for our event over the Winter. Until then here are a few great plans courtesy of Cool Running dot com.

 

Beginner For runners who currently run 15 to 25 miles per week and expect to run the marathon in about 4 hours for men, or 4:20 for women. You should have at least one year of running experience.

 

Intermediate For runners who currently run 25 to 50 miles per week and expect to run the marathon in under 3:30 for men, or 3:50 for women.

 

Advanced For runners who currently run 40 to 60 miles per week and expect to run the marathon in under 3:00 for men, or 3:20 for women.

 

Competitive For runners who currently run over 50 miles per week and expect to run the marathon in under 2:30 for men, or 2:50 for women.
