Akron, OH (March 21, 2022) – The Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation announced today it will host its Blue Jean Bash on Sept. 22, 2022, to celebrate the 20th running of the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, & Team Relay.

During the event, the John S. Knight Center will be transformed into a 20-year celebration, filled with interactive displays, running celebrities, live entertainment, and a walk down the history of the Blue Line. Honorary Chairs of the Blue Jean Bash include City of Akron Mayor Horrigan, Summit County Executive Shapiro, and Summa Health’s Dr. Shah.

The Blue Jean Bash will be the largest fundraiser for the Akron Marathon and hosted by Steve and Jeannine Marks, race co-founders, whose family also serves as the presenting sponsor. Thanks to the generosity of donors, from events like this, the Akron Marathon can continue to improve health and wellness in Northeast Ohio. Through the Akron Marathon’s 20-year history,
the organization has:

  • Celebrated 170,529 Blue Line Finishers
  • Raised over $6 million for charity
  • Generated $133 million of economic impact to the Greater Akron area
  • Provided 13,604 complimentary race entries
  • Accumulated over 132,740 volunteer hours
