Akron, OH (Aug. 3, 2023) – The Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health is hosting the second event of its series, the nearly sold-out Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k, taking place on Aug. 12, 2023.
The Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k was designed for runners and walkers alike, who will begin the course with a lap around the Goodyear Test Track at the Akron Proving Grounds. The route will then lead participants through Akron’s East End and Ellet neighborhoods, with a memorable finish under the skywalk of Goodyear’s Global Headquarters.
“Hosting the Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k is extra special for us this year as we celebrate our 125-year legacy in Akron,” said Doug Grassian, senior director, global external and digital communications, and Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation Board Director. “It’s always gratifying to see the presence of the community at this race including the more than 200 Goodyear associates running and volunteering.”
The Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k, the second race in the Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health, promises an unforgettable experience, featuring the ever-popular Finisher Festival that has become a hallmark of the Akron Marathon Race Series. Participants look forward to a variety of vendors and displays, including the highly anticipated presence of Swenson’s Food Trucks, OH Donut Co., Sandy Bottom Bowls, and the Roll by Goodyear vehicle.
Each participant will receive a premium short sleeve performance shirt and a commemorative medal which will feature the historic Goodyear Wingfoot logo, originally created in 1898, to celebrate Goodyear’s 125th anniversary year.
Packet Pick-Up for this race is scheduled for Fri., Aug. 11, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the John S. Knight Center. Runners have been asked to collect their race packets during this designated time, as race day packet pick-up will not be available.
The final race in the Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health will be the 21st running of the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, & Team Relay — following the Blue Line through the streets of Akron on Sept. 30, 2023.
