AKRON, Ohio (June 28, 2023) — The Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation is delighted to announce Keira D’Amato as the official Ambassador for the 2023 Akron Marathon. D’Amato, who recently announced her participation as a member of USA Track & Field’s Team USA at the World Championships Marathon in Budapest, Hungary this summer, will be cheered on by the northeast Ohio running community before she visits Akron later this fall.
Recipients of the Akron Marathon Ambassador Award have made significant contributions and lasting impacts on the sport of running.
D’Amato has emerged as a remarkable long-distance runner and a rising star in the running world. Her exceptional achievements, such as her qualification for the 2021 Olympic Trials and her record-breaking performance as the American marathon record holder with a time of 2:19:12 at the 2022 Houston Marathon, have solidified her position as a force to be reckoned with in the running community. D’Amato’s passion for the sport, combined with her unwavering commitment to excellence, makes her an ideal choice as the Akron Marathon Ambassador.

During her visit to Akron, which will take place from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29, 2023, D’Amato will participate in events including the VIP party on Wed., Sept. 27, where she will be honored with the 13th annual Akron Marathon Ambassador Award as well as the Health & Fitness Expo on Fri. Sept. 29 where registered participants will have the opportunity to meet D’Amato and gain insights from her training experiences and receive encouragement for their own journeys.
