Q: What is the Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health? 

A: The Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health was designed to coincide with training benchmarks leading up to our marquee race in September. The series will include events on June 26, August 14, & September 25 and each event will include the same world-class treatment you have come to expect from the Akron Marathon over the past 18 years. 

Q: Are there runner premiums for participating in the Series?

A: Yes, all series finishers will receive a commemorative Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health medal & commemorative gift. 

Q: What are the race dates of the Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health?

A: Saturday, June 26, 2021 – 8k and 1-mile 
Saturday, August 14, 2021 – Half Marathon and 10k 
Saturday, September 25, 2021 – Marathon, Half Marathon, Team Relay, and Kids Fun Run 

Q: Is there a minimum age requirement?

A: The minimum age varies by race. 

8k – 12 years old 
Mile – 8 years old 
10k – 12 years old 
Half Marathon – 16 years old 
Marathon – 16 years old 
Team Relay – 14 years old 

Q: After registering will I receive additional information?

A: Yes, we will send emails leading up to each event with additional information to help you get ready. Final instructions are sent 2-weeks prior to the race via email and are also posted on the website. When registering, please provide your primary email address. 

 

REGISTRATION

Q: Will there be perks if I register for all 3 events?

A: Yes, all series finishers including virtual participants will receive a commemorative Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health medal & commemorative gift. 

Q: How do I register for the series? 

A: Due to COVID-19 and limitations you will need to register for each event separately. There is no series registration link. Participants who have finish times for all 3 events will automatically be counted in the series.  

Q: I was injured after registering for the Series. Can I get a refund or defer until next year?

A: No – there will be NO refunds or deferments. We incur fixed costs for each runner based on registration numbers. As a result, we are not able to allow any refunds. However, you are able to purchase insurance during the registration process through Race Roster.

Q: Will you email a confirmation to me?

A: Once you register online, you will receive a confirmation email immediately from Race Roster.  Please provide your primary email address.

 

SCORING

Q: Will there be a scoring system used in the Series?

Q: How will scores be determined?

Q: Will each race be scored individually?

A: Yes, in-person participants will be given a score for each completed race. 

Q: Do I have to participate in all three races to participate in the Series?

A: Yes, runners must finish all three races to participate in the Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health. 

Q: If I sign up for the series but am unable to make it to one of the races, will my other scores still count in the Series scoring?

A: No, runners must finish all three races in order to participate in the Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health. 

 

AWARDS

Q: If I complete all 3 events will I receive anything special?

A: Yes, all series finishers including virtual participants will receive a commemorative Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health medal & commemorative gift. 

Q: Will there be series awards?

A: Yes, prize money will be awarded to the top 3 overall male and female in-person participants in the series. The top male and female in the masters division will also be awarded. Additionally, the top male and female in each age division will receive an award. Age groups: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. You can win only one award. Please note virtual participants are not included in awards since virtual results are unofficial. 

Q: Can I win double awards (overall and age group)?

A: No. You can only win one award. There is no double dipping for awards. If a masters finished in top 3 overall, they become an overall and taken out of Masters. 

Q: What age is Masters?

A: You must be at least 40 years of age or older on race day.
